About the ATRF
The ATRF has long established itself as the premier transport planning, policy and research forum for both the public and the private sectors in Australia and New Zealand. This annual event brings together academics and practitioners from the transport arena in government and the private sector to share in the latest research and policy initiatives.
The ATRF began in 1975, with Australian Transport Council endorsement, by a group of states' Directors-General of Transport and leading members of the transport planning profession. They saw merit in establishing a forum to discuss current transport planning, policy and practice research. Over the years the ATRF has grown (New Zealand joined the forum in 1988) and it now attracts about 200 participants to the annual forum.
